Taste Bar and Grill, Thalang

This is a place that I have wanted to try for ages.  People rave about it but I was unsure how veggie friendly it would be based on the feed back I had heard.  Last night I was lucky enough to find out for myself as was invited to dinner there.
A lovely restaurant, mainly indoors with air conditioning although there were some unused tables scattered around outside.  But these tables were close to the main road and I would not really have wanted to sit there.
Well firstly, it is definitely worth going between 5pm - 7pm for 99 Baht cocktails and selected appetisers.   We enjoyed a couple of these before heading to the table, cocktails were a bit sweet but still not bad.
The menu is quite large and although they do not explicitly have a veggie menu there is about a dozen dishes to choose from on the menu.  Most are not originally meant for veggies but have a veggie option.  For instance fish tacos, Indian chicken curry and some selected salads.  They also have many cheese dishes to choose from, a deep fried camembert cheese and a goats cheese salad to name two.  Lastly, they have a flatbread section and soups with several veggie dishes to choose from.  Altogether I was spoilt for choice here, which is not a feeling I have too often in Phuket.
I had the deep fried camembert and the Veggie Indian curry.  Both were good, not exceptional but I enjoyed them.  The cost of the starter and the main course was about 550 Baht total, so not bad value either.

Nice decor, not overly fancy but nice.
My veggie curry, with coconut rice, some chutney and popadom.  It was very flavoursome and a good choice.  For veggies, I would rate this place 8 out of 10.
Taste Bar and Grill is located just North of Bang Tao, very close to the Tesco/McDonalds complex and if you are in the area it certainly worth a visit.
